Feathered Friends: Mom Remains an Inspiration, One Day at a Time | Lifestyles

Well, it was a year later that I wrote my column about my 90-year-old mother who had inspired me so much throughout my childhood and beyond — and even now.

You may recall that about a month before her 90th birthday (August 25), she fell ill last summer with metastatic breast cancer 18 years after surviving breast cancer. She wasn’t feeling well and the news was disheartening to say the least. We didn’t know if she would make it to Thanksgiving. But she has started taking miracle drugs and has improved and remained stable for the past 12 months. As I write this column, today is her 91st birthday and we thank the Lord that we and so many others have had her in their lives for what could be considered a bonus year!
