Former Aussie hitter Michael Hussey believes the England test team should take inspiration from India as they beat the Australians in their own backyard despite a second-string team with no key players.
The entire English team have already lost the Ashes series, needing 358 more races to win the fourth test in Sydney on the final day.
Hussey on the Cricbuzz show said: “This is what we love about Test Cricket, you never know. Everyone had written off India last year. They were on their last leg, they got injured, but they have found their spirit inside and I think England can draw inspiration from that, “
Hussey also spoke of the two England openers who will have to behave exceptionally well to maintain their position in the squad on Matchday 5. “There are other great stories in there and Zak Crawley and Hameed maybe playing for their careers. So the English have a lot of motivation to show that spirit and fight,” Hussey said.
Hussey refrained from preventing the England team from chasing a massive target against a brilliant Australian attack.
“I’m not going to write them off yet, but it’s going to be very difficult. There will be some big challenges along the way. The ground is certainly not as good as last year and the Aussie bowlers are probably a little bit fresher than they were this time last year, so it’s definitely in Australia’s favor but I’m sure England won’t fall without a fight, ”said Hussey.
