Fred Again and Skrillex swapped homes in hopes of creative stimulation

Fred Again took over 2022 with his incredible Boiler Room set from earlier in the year, as well as appearances with Swedish House Mafia and Four Tet as well as the release of his latest album, real life 3. The producer recently sat down with Zane Lowe where he discussed a whole variety of topics ranging from acting to songwriting as well as the decision for him and Skrillex to do a home swap for a while. .

As fans eagerly await news about Skrillex’s music that never comes, Fred Again has spent the year rocking the legend through his live performances as well as short social media videos where the two producers feature some behind-the-scenes insight into their creative process and overall enjoyment. Of course, a slew of credentials from Fred Again’s now infamous Boiler Room sent the internet into a frenzy with the first taste of the two producers’ music, along with the infamous track, To scold, which also features works by Four Tet and Flowdan. Apparently, the two are so close that they decided to do a house swap which saw Skrillex hiding out at Fred Again’s London home while the British producer moved to Los Angeles. While discussing the motivation and impact of the change, Fred Again revealed, “We’ve been doing a house swap right now, so he’s staying at my place in London and I’m at his place in LA, and that’s kinda lovely, but it’s just nice to have a place here that feels like home,” further adding, “So when I’m here I kind of have a It doesn’t seem like a natural place for spontaneity. And being able to walk around and stuff like that. While the change of scenery was clearly an adjustment, he also noted:

“You can’t argue with the creative impact of the city and the frequency of this energy is powerful. I think I’m on it. Here was a real game… Having, like I said, a place that looks like… It’s the house of one of my best friends, so it’s so much nicer than just being in an anonymous hotel in West Hollywood.
