Deepika Padukone is an Indian actress and former model. Padukone made her acting debut with the film Kannada Aishwarya which was released in 2006. She made her Hindi film debut the following year with the hit Om Shanti Om, for which she won the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award.

Padukone was born in the Danish city of Copenhagen. When she was eleven months old, her family moved to Bangalore, India. Padukone was born in Mangalore and speaks Konkani as her mother tongue. His ancestors hail from the village of Padukone in the Kundapura Taluk of Udupi district in Karnataka, India.

Padukone attempted a modeling career while in college. She was spotted competing in a ramp competition at NLS Bangalore.
