A media advisory is not a complete story. This is a one-page description and is essentially an invitation to the press to attend an event hosted by a brand. The event can be anything from a press conference to a grand opening, book signing, live demo, etc.

Media advisories include the most important event details and are a great way to generate buzz and entice media to attend.

  • Just as you would when formatting a press release, use the 5 Ws (who, what, when, where and why) to get to the most important details
  • Keep the length between 100 and 150 words.

It is important to note that media advisories must be sent twice. The first should be sent a week before the event and the second should be sent the day before the event to serve as a reminder.
