Olivia Rodrigo: Inspiration Strikes at Random Times – Music News

Olivia Rodrigo finds inspiration “randomly”.

The 19-year-old singer remembers writing the song “Happier” on the set of a show, and she admits she sometimes finds inspiration when she least expects it.

Olivia – who released her debut album, ‘SOUR’, in May 2021 – told The Hollywood Reporter: “I wrote the song ‘Happier’ on my own and wrote it on the set of a show that I was shooting.

“It’s so funny – the inspiration just comes at random times. I was between takes and I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve got this idea,’ and then I just wrote the song on set. So it’s always fun when you kind of get the flash of an idea.”

Olivia is currently gearing up for her first-ever tour, and the teenage star is especially looking forward to performing the song “Brutal.”

She shared: “[It] hits so hard – I always love being at a gig and really rocking out to a song, so hopefully people rock out to that one.”

Earlier this month, Olivia claimed she had “grew up so much” since the release of her debut album.

The singer feels like she’s become a much more confident person thanks to everything she’s been through in the past year.

She shared, “The process of creating ‘SOUR’ and releasing it to the world has really challenged me, and I’ve grown so much and learned so much about myself.

“I definitely feel like a more confident person today because of that.”

Olivia admitted that her attitude towards love has also changed.

She said, “I felt really different about love when I was writing ‘SOUR’ than I do now. I think when you go through heartbreak like that, you can be really disappointed with the concepts of relationships.

“But now I’m at a place where I’m so happy to have been through it all, and I have so much love for all those people I’ve had relationships with. And so good that I’ve been able to write songs to help me out.”
